Privacy policy

This English version is provided for convenience. If it differs from the Hebrew version, the Hebrew version governs.
This document explains what information Ariach collects, why, who receives it, and what your rights are. The database controller is the operators of Ariach, and you can contact us about any privacy matter at support@ariach.com.
What information, and why
- Account details: name, email address and password (stored encrypted; we cannot read it). Used to identify you, to sign you in and for service messages.
- Use of the account: while you are signed in, three details are stored in your account: how you signed in (a password or Google), when you were last seen on the site, and how many times you have visited it. Only this summary is stored — not a list of the visits, and not what was done in them. We use it for support and to understand which accounts are active, and it is deleted together with the account.
- Signing in with Google: if you chose to sign in with a Google account, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google and store them in your account. They are used only to identify you, to sign you in and for service messages. We get no access to any other information in your Google account (mail, files, contacts), we do not use these details for advertising, and we do not pass them to anyone other than the parties listed later in this document. Deleting the account deletes them too.
- Books: the text, notes, settings, versions and files you have uploaded. Used for typesetting, for storage and for the shared work you have requested.
- Conversations with the Assistant: the requests you wrote, the Assistant's answers and the parts of the book needed to answer them are stored in your account for up to 90 days from the last time you touched the conversation, or until you delete it. We may read them in order to improve the Assistant and to troubleshoot.
- Word files you imported: when you import a Word file, we keep a copy of the original file for up to 14 days and then delete it. We use it to investigate an import that did not come out well and to improve importing.
- Requests and feedback: what you wrote to us in the site's contact window or by email, the name and email address you gave, and the page from which the message was written. Used to answer your request and to improve the service.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type and the times of requests are recorded in the server logs for up to 30 days, for security and troubleshooting.
- Fonts you uploaded: the font files you added to your account and, with each of them, the record of the license declaration: who uploaded it, when and from which IP address. The file is deleted when the font is removed; the record of the declaration is kept afterwards too, in case the font's rights holder contacts us.
You are under no legal obligation to provide this information. Without a name and an email address you cannot open an account, but you can try the sample books without an account, and then everything is stored in your browser alone.
What is stored in the browser
Your browser stores your sign-in, your display preferences and a working copy of your books. The site has no advertisements, no cookies and no third-party tracking tools.
Counting visits
We count the site's visits ourselves, on the site's own server. What is counted: which pages were opened (a book is counted without its name and without its identifier), which site the visitor came from (the site's name only), whether the screen is narrow or wide, and which steps were taken on the way from the home page to producing a PDF, such as opening an account or creating a book. Only daily totals are kept, for 400 days.
This counting uses no cookies, stores nothing in the browser, is not linked to your account and builds no personal profile. So that the same visitor is not counted twice on the same day, the server computes a one-way code from the IP address and the browser type, using a random key that changes every day and is not stored. The address and the browser type themselves are not stored in the count, the codes are deleted when the day ends, and a visit today cannot be linked to a visit tomorrow.
A browser that asks not to be tracked (the Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control setting) is not counted at all.
Who receives the information
We do not sell information and do not disclose it for advertising. Information reaches only the providers that operate the service for us, and only to the extent needed for that:
- Hosting: a rented server in the European Union (France).
- Backup: Cloudflare.
- Email: an email delivery provider, for messages such as password resets and address verification.
- Artificial intelligence: when you use the Assistant or plain-language search, the request and the parts of the book and the settings needed to answer it are sent to Google (the Gemini service) in the United States. We use the paid service, under whose terms the content is not used to train Google's models. If you do not use the Assistant or plain-language search, nothing from your books is sent there.
- Your collaborators: those you have added to your account see the books in it, as well as your name and email address.
Some of the providers operate outside Israel. By opening an account and using the Assistant, you consent to the transfer of information to them for the purposes described here. We will disclose information to a competent authority only when the law requires it.
How long
- A book moved to the trash is permanently deleted after 30 days.
- An account you have asked to delete is deleted after 30 days, together with the books in which you are the only member.
- Backup copies are deleted within 30 days after that.
Your rights
You are entitled to review the information stored about you, and to ask that information that is incorrect, incomplete or out of date be corrected or deleted. Most things you can do yourself: export your books, rename them, delete them and delete your account. For any other request, write to support@ariach.com and we will reply within 30 days.
Security
Communication with the site is encrypted, access to books is limited to those you have added to the account, and the system is backed up every night. Ariach's administrators can open a book read-only, in order to handle a request or a fault. No system is completely immune; if an incident affecting your information comes to light, we will notify you.
Mailings
We send service messages only (address verification, password resets, changes to the terms). We will not send you any advertising without your explicit and separate consent.
Age
The service is intended for people aged 18 and over.
Changes
A material change to this policy will be published here and emailed to account holders before it takes effect.
